Synopsis

Senne, the largest heath landscape in Northwest Germany, serves as a vital refuge for diverse wildlife, including rare insects, birds, endangered amphibians, and large herds of fallow deer. For over 130 years, significant portions of this area have been designated as a military training ground for British and German forces, restricting civilian access. Surprisingly, this military presence has created a sanctuary for wildlife, allowing species that have been displaced by agriculture to thrive in an undisturbed environment.
