Synopsis

In August 2000, Pushpa, a 13-year-old girl, faces the harsh reality of being forced by her mother to drop out of school and marry. By the age of 14, she becomes a child mother, struggling with her health and the challenges of caring for her baby at just 15 years old. Pushpa's situation reflects a troubling trend in six Indian states, where the average age for marrying among rural girls is under fourteen. This early childbearing leads to severe health issues for both young mothers and their infants, with some facing life-threatening complications. The documentary highlights the urgent need to address the consequences of forced marriages and the plight of child mothers like Pushpa in India.
