Synopsis
Gale Williams grew up in Santa Monica, California, leading a typical childhood. His life changed dramatically in 1956 when a car crash left him a quadriplegic just before his 18th birthday. At that time, medical expectations for such injuries were grim, with a life expectancy of only 10 to 15 years. With support from his family and church community, Gale focused on achievable goals. He studied computer programming at UCLA in the 1960s, worked for an air defense company, and later married and adopted two children.
