In December 2012, a group of young Afghans and Pakistanis occupies the Votive Church in Vienna, the largest neo-Gothic church in Austria. They seek asylum after fleeing violence in their home countries, where they witnessed schools burned and relatives murdered. Despite their perilous circumstances, their applications for asylum are denied following accelerated processing. The film documents their struggle for safety and the challenges they face within the church's walls.
