Synopsis

In Ethiopia, the Surmas prepare for war against the Bumis by engaging in traditional practices. They consult a diviner to determine if the God Touma supports them in the upcoming conflict. Following this spiritual guidance, the Surmas organize a donga, a ritual where men of the tribe fight each other with sticks to hone their combat skills. Meanwhile, the women of the tribe carve intricate motifs into their skin, symbolizing their loyalty and connection to their heritage. These customs highlight the deep cultural significance of preparation and unity within the Surma community.
