Synopsis

Maikhuu, a truck driver on Mongolia's coal mining highway to China, aspires for a better life and financial security for her three children. However, the harsh realities of her job reveal the detrimental impact of the coal industry on local communities. The highway is fraught with accidents, toxic pollution, and poor hygiene, compounded by the challenges of Covid-19, which forces drivers into lengthy quarantines at the border. Maikhuu grapples with the question of whether the financial rewards justify the significant costs to her and her homeland.
