Synopsis
A shipwrecked American marine, played by Robert Mitchum, yearns for an Irish nun, portrayed by Deborah Kerr, in the 1956 film Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison. Set in 1944 in the Pacific, the film was shot in Tobago, where Trinidadian Chinese extras depicted Japanese soldiers. Islands, an experimental video, deconstructs this cinematic narrative to comment on the Caribbean's relationship with film. The artist's uncle, Clive, appears as one of the extras in the production.
