Synopsis
Georg Baselitz, a German-born painter and sculptor, appears on television for the first time in 1987. Director Heinz Peter Schwerfel has documented Baselitz for over thirty years through interviews and studio visits. In this film, Baselitz discusses his rejection of 1950s abstract painting and his technique of painting portraits upside down. He also addresses the influence of African art on his sculptures. Baselitz has since become a prominent figure in contemporary art.
