Synopsis

Southern Sudan experiences a shift towards peace following a 21-year civil war, as millions of displaced individuals return home. A peace agreement between the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) and the government grants the South greater autonomy, yet challenges remain. Vice President Dr Machar highlights issues with oil revenue distribution, claiming the South has received minimal funds. Additionally, armed militias continue to instill fear in the region. Despite these obstacles, residents like Martha express hope and joy at returning to their homeland.
