Synopsis
China's grasslands, a vital component of the Eurasian Steppe, host diverse wildlife on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, including Tibetan foxes, Plateau pikas, manuls, and snowfinches. In eastern Inner Mongolia, the arrival of spring and summer transforms the landscape into a breeding ground for Demoiselle cranes, Upland buzzards, Père David's snowfinches, and steppe eagles. Meanwhile, in the Midwest of Inner Mongolia, desertification poses challenges, yet herders work to restore the grassland's resilience, creating a sustainable habitat for species like Black-winged stilts and White spoonbills.
