Synopsis

Green Island's Lio-ma-gou, the only source of fresh water, stands in stark contrast to its history as a site of political imprisonment. In the 1950s, nearly 100 female political prisoners were held in a concentration camp there. The documentary follows a new generation as they investigate the lives of two former inmates. Their inquiries reveal the struggles these women faced and the lasting impact of their experiences on society today. Directed by Yu-Ching Chen, Freemale runs for 53 minutes.
