Princeville, NC is the first town incorporated by freed Africans in America. Founded in the late 19th century, the town now faces significant threats from rising waters. Erosion and flooding endanger homes and infrastructure. Residents and local leaders strive to preserve their history and community. Directed by Resita Cox, Freedom Hill documents these efforts and the historical significance of a place that stands at risk of being lost. The film runs for 29 minutes and was released in 2022.
