Synopsis

Heiko Sahling, a biologist and deep sea geoscientist at the MARUM Research Center, studies the Indian Ocean off the coast of Pakistan. At depths reaching 3,000 meters, he observes the emergence of natural gas from the sea bed, creating a surreal environment filled with millions of tiny bubbles. This unique phenomenon has captured the imagination of science fiction authors. In these exotic underwater settings, Sahling discovers new animal species and communities, contributing to the understanding of deep-sea ecosystems.
