Synopsis
A small cabin boat moored near the mouth of the Keyhaven river serves as the setting for Estuary, filmed over three weeks from December 17, 1979, to January 6, 1980. The filmmaker, familiar with the area since childhood, captures the ebb and flow of the tide and wind. The camera, fixed to the boat, scans 360 degrees while rising and falling about eight feet with the tide. Each four-second segment of film is exposed every fifteen minutes from dawn to dusk.
