A Sea Change

Synopsis

At the IBIS maritime boarding school in Ostende, Belgium, boys aged six to sixteen learn to sail fishing boats and participate in the daily catch. The classrooms are adorned with maps of the sea, reflecting its unpredictable nature. As the film progresses, the decline of the local fishing industry becomes evident, with the fish auction hall falling into disrepair and the harbor rusting. A sense of nostalgia permeates the coastal environment, contrasting with the looming disappearance of the fishing fleet and endangered fish species.
