Bryon Widner, a former skinhead, spent 16 years involved with violent racist groups, including the Vinlanders Social Club in Indiana. After marrying Julie Larsen in 2005 and becoming a father, he sought to leave that life behind. Widner faced threats and harassment while trying to reform. His extensive facial tattoos, symbols of his past, hindered his reintegration. With help from the Southern Poverty Law Center and an anonymous donor, he underwent painful procedures to remove the tattoos over 18 months.
