Emmanuel Yeboah grew up in Ghana with a deformed leg. Abandoned by his father, he supported himself by shining shoes for $2 a day. In 2005, he rode a bicycle nearly 380 miles across Ghana to raise awareness about the treatment of disabled people. Supported by the Challenged Athletes Foundation, he later traveled to the United States to participate in a triathlon. Emmanuel established the Emmanuel Education Fund and provided free wheelchairs to those in need, striving to change perceptions around disability in his country.
