Für viele Nicht-Australier ist es eine berraschung, dass dieser Kontinent auch schneebedeckte Gipfel zu bieten hat. ber 600 Millionen Jahre reicht die Geschichte der australischen Alpen zurück, an deren raues Klima sich sehr ungewöhnliche Tierarten angepasst haben. Seit über 40 Jahren verbringt die Biologin Linda Broome hier ihre Zeit, um die immer seltener werdenden Zwerg-Bergbilchbeutler zu studieren. Denn der Klimawandel und der Einsatz von Pestiziden bedrohen das fragile Gleichgewicht der Alpen und ihrer Bewohner.
