Synopsis
Hans Jürgen Syberberg returns to Demmin, the town where he grew up, to confront its troubled past. At the end of World War II, hundreds died in a mass suicide there. Syberberg documents his long-term efforts to revitalize the central market square, aiming to transform it into a community hub. A café has been restored for film screenings and social gatherings. Two architectural firms have proposed redesign plans, reflecting Syberberg's vision to restore a sense of community rather than recreate the past.
