Synopsis
Deep Ellum, a neighborhood in Dallas, Texas, was once a vibrant hub for music in the 1920s and 1930s. Artists like Blind Lemon Jefferson, Blind Willie Johnson, Lead Belly, and Bill Neely performed in its clubs. The construction of Central Expressway in the 1950s led to the decline of this music scene. Deep Ellum Blues, part of the Living Texas Blues series, runs for 10 minutes and focuses on the nightlife and musical legacy of this historic area.
