Raúl, a French-Spanish economist, conducts research on rebel groups in eastern Congo. He is joined by Peter, a German aid worker nearing retirement, and Anne-Laure, a Belgian whose partner becomes a regime critic after imprisonment. Together, they face challenges while trying to assist the local population. The film questions the effectiveness of Western aid in a region marked by conflict and humanitarian crises. "Congo Calling" premiered at the Max Ophüls Prize Film Festival in January 2019 and won several awards.
