Synopsis
An unnamed beast swims up from a forgotten swamp to rebuild the world after humans have destroyed it once again.
Synopsis
In the wetlands of Bamff, East Perthshire, Scotland, an unnamed beast emerges from a forgotten swamp. CASTOROCENE presents a vision of a world rebuilt from nothing. Filmed by artist Alexander Hetherington on 16mm film, the work blends essay and semi-fictionalized nature documentary. It portrays wetlands as dynamic entities, focusing on viscous textures, organic debris, and nonhuman sculptures. The film contemplates themes of borrowing, rewilding, and the construction of animal habitats.
