Synopsis
Enrico, a young boy in East Berlin, navigates life as his mother, Erika, marries in the West. In the summer of 1989, Helke Misselwitz follows Enrico and his band, "Bulk Rubbish," as they create music from discarded items. The boys express their frustrations about growing up in new housing estates. As the Berlin Wall approaches its fall, Enrico clings to his cultural identity. The band members view the impending reunification with skepticism, wanting to remain citizens of East Germany.
