Off the East coast of Mauritius, the bulk carrier MV Wakashio ran aground on July 25, 2020. It was carrying 3,800 tonnes of fuel oil. Twelve days later, the oil spilled onto coral reefs, causing an environmental crisis. "Black Tide" covers the immediate effects of the spill on marine life and the long-term impacts on local communities reliant on these waters.
