Gudlaugur Fridthórsson was the sole survivor of a fishing crew when their boat sank off the Westman Islands in mid-winter. In a desperate bid for survival, he swam five and a half kilometers in frigid waters before walking barefoot across sharp lava fields to find help. Specialists conducted tests on Fridthórsson to understand how he endured conditions that would typically prove fatal. Directed by Páll Steingrímsson, this 16-minute documentary recounts his extraordinary experience.
