Beyond the Ararat

Synopsis

A woman from Brussels journeys to Turkey and Armenia to understand her identity. She visits her grandmother's village and learns about the "Agit," an oral tradition where women sing for the dead. In Anatolia, she encounters women whose experiences reflect her own. The songs create a space for mourning, connecting Turkish, Kurdish, and Armenian voices. Her quest takes her to the foot of Mount Ararat, deepening her exploration of cultural heritage. Directed by Tülin Özdemir in 2013, the film runs for 57 minutes.
