Chile's Atacama Desert, the driest in the world, hosts rich marine biodiversity along its coasts, including sea lions, sharks, and unique inland species like Fabian's lizard.
Synopsis
The desert of Chile is the driest in the world, but the marine currents that wash its arid coasts are thought to be the richest on the planet. Immense schools of fish swim under constant siege from all kinds of sharks. This abundance of biodiversity has led to the formation of numerous sea lion colonies. Inland, strange and beautiful animals survive: Andean flamingos, burrowing owls and grey foxes, as well as the extraordinary Fabian's lizard that lives on the salt flats and the colourful burrowing parrot.
