Synopsis
Arthur Mayer, at 89, recalls attending the first movie show in America in 1895. His wife, Lillie, 86, was among the early American suffragettes. The film captures their memories, including Arthur's publicity stunts for Paramount and his Broadway horror film theatre. He also discusses his role in bringing European cinema to the U.S., notably with Roberto Rossellini's Open City. "Arthur and Lillie" received an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Short in 1975.
