Apple Pay put to the test
Synopsis
Cardiff Garcia hosts the first ever Apple Pay Halloween shopping contest in New York.
Synopsis
On the corner of 34th Street and 5th Avenue New York, Cardiff Garcia hosts the first ever FT Apple Pay Halloween shopping contest. Following Apple's recent launch of its digital payment service, Apple Pay, two reporters from the Financial Times, Cara Scel and Camila Hall, participate in a challenge to buy three specific items: Halloween socks, a hangover remedy, and a pumpkin-infused caffeinated beverage. Cara uses Apple Pay on her iPhone 6, while Camila opts for a traditional credit card. The contest aims to highlight the differences in shopping experiences with the new payment method as they navigate various retailers, some of which are still hesitant to accept Apple Pay. After an hour, they reconvene at the FT headquarters to discuss their experiences and the challenges they faced during the shopping spree.
