Synopsis
Corporal Jorge "JV" Villarreal was killed in October 2010 while on patrol in Afghanistan. A decade later, his fellow Marines confront their trauma and grief over his loss. "American Sons" features their stories as they navigate life after combat. The film includes Villarreal's first-person video diaries, which provide insight into his experiences and the bonds formed during their service. Directed by Andrew James Gonzales, the documentary premiered at the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival on March 8, 2025.
