Synopsis
Rasmané, a 16-year-old boy in Burkina Faso, spends his days in the depths of small-scale gold mines. The film follows him as he descends into a 100-metre pit, where young men seek both gold and a better future. Through observational footage, the documentary captures the daily struggles and aspirations of those involved in this perilous work. Directed by Boubacar Sangaré, "A Golden Life" presents a stark view of life in a mining community in 2024.
