Synopsis

Sabuk, a town in Jeongseon County, Gangwon Province, became the center of conflict in April 1980. Over 3,000 miners, facing intense surveillance and exploitation, took control of the area. They clashed with authorities, leading to a tense standoff. A last-minute agreement prevented the deployment of martial law forces. The confrontation resulted in numerous casualties, leaving lasting effects on the community. More than 40 years later, the events of that day continue to resonate in Sabuk.
