Flavio, a young member of La Tumba Francesa in Santiago de Cuba, explores his family's cultural heritage linked to the Haitian Revolution and mutual aid societies.
Synopsis
Flavio, the youngest member of La Tumba Francesa, La Caridad de Oriente, seeks information for a school project in Santiago de Cuba. He engages with his grandmother Andrea and mother Queli, both custodians of their cultural traditions. The film, Tumba Mambi, connects the history of the Haitian Revolution (1791-1804) to the formation of Tumba Francesa Societies, which served as mutual aid networks for French settlers and enslaved Africans. The soundtrack, composed by DJ Jigüe, reflects the ongoing legacy of these struggles for freedom.
