Synopsis

In October 2009, Fort Collins, Colorado, became the center of a media frenzy when Richard and Mayumi Heene reported that their six-year-old son, Falcon, had floated away in a homemade helium balloon. "Trainwreck: Balloon Boy" revisits the incident sixteen years later, featuring interviews with the Heene family, journalists, and investigators. The Heenes maintain their innocence, while others argue the event was a calculated attempt for fame. The documentary includes archival footage and reflects on the public's reaction and the aftermath of the event.
