Tony Hawk, born on May 12, 1968, in San Diego, California, transformed skateboarding from a niche activity into a recognized Olympic sport. After receiving his first skateboard at age nine, he became a professional by 14 and co-founded Birdhouse skateboards in 1992. Hawk gained fame for his innovative tricks, including the historic "900" at the 1999 X Games. Beyond his athletic achievements, he established the Tony Hawk Foundation in 2002, promoting skate parks in underserved communities across the United States.
