Synopsis
Serge Bambara, known as Smockey, uses socially-conscious rap to address political issues in Burkina Faso. The country, which saw nearly 30 years of dictatorship under Blaise Compaoré, elected Roch Marc Christian Kaboré in 2015. As Burkina Faso navigates its transitional period, Smockey reflects on the legacy of Thomas Sankara's democratic ideals and the challenges facing Kaboré's presidency. The film runs for 67 minutes and was released in 2019.
