Stuart Hall, a Jamaican-born theorist, arrived in England in the early 1950s and became a key figure in British cultural studies. The Unfinished Conversation, directed by John Akomfrah, is a three-screen installation that uses archival footage, music, and photographs to reflect on Hall's contributions to identity and memory. Commissioned by Autograph ABP, the work draws from 800 hours of Hall's own recordings, intertwining his insights with the music of Miles Davis. It premiered at the 2012 Liverpool Biennial and opened at Tate Britain on October 26, 2013.
