Synopsis
In 1985, the University of Arizona Museum of Art reported the theft of Willem de Kooning's painting Woman-Ochre. Cut from its frame, the artwork vanished without a trace. For 32 years, it remained missing until 2017, when it was discovered in the home of Jerry and Rita Alter in New Mexico. The Thief Collector features interviews with the Alters' family and those involved in the painting's theft and recovery, alongside reenactments of the crime and adaptations of Jerry Alter's short stories.
