The Sultan's Burden

Synopsis

Sultan Issa Maigari leads the Adamaoua Province in Northern Cameroon during a time of political upheaval. As the country approaches its first democratic elections in 1992, he faces challenges in maintaining the support of his court and the local population while also appeasing the president and central authorities. His servants, praise-singers, wives, and concubines propose various strategies to help him navigate this turbulent period, though their efforts often fall short.
