Synopsis

At TOA base, one of the largest military bases in Colombia, the Forces Commando 2014 competition takes place, gathering elite military forces from 17 countries. This event, initiated by the US military in 2004, aims to combat terrorism and drug trafficking in the region. Participants face challenges posed by guerillas and militias that have merged with traffickers and gangs, utilizing military tactics and drug money. The competition includes various events, such as an aquatic challenge where soldiers row boats and a shallow lake rucksack run, followed by a shooting range event with 9mm firearms. The training emphasizes cross-country mobility, as guerillas have adapted their camps to be less accessible to vehicles, necessitating long-distance travel on foot or by water. The Forces Commando competition is crucial for enhancing cooperation among militaries to address the growing network of violence and crime in Colombia and beyond.
