Synopsis

In 2014, Islamic State militants invaded Western Iraq's Anbar Province, overpowering Iraqi security forces and forcing thousands to flee. The group captured key cities, including Mosul, Ramadi, and Fallujah, where many US troops had previously fought against the Islamic State’s predecessor. Two years later, Iraqi security forces, supported by Iranian-backed Shiite militias and US military advisors, prepared to reclaim these territories. The documentary highlights the ongoing conflict and its impact on local communities as they confront the remnants of state militants.
