Victor Rios grew up in West Oakland. He joined a gang and faced incarceration. A teacher changed his path. Now a professor at UC Santa Barbara, Rios and his mentor work with young people. Their focus is on Mexican and African-American teens. They aim to motivate these students to achieve their goals. The Pushouts runs for 58 minutes and presents the issue of high school dropouts and the state of public education.
