The Photographers' Gallery on Ramly Street reopens after an 18-month closure, featuring a major exhibition by Ed Burtynsky showcasing his oil photographs. The newly refurbished gallery now includes two floors, providing double the exhibition space and tall galleries that enhance the display of artists' work. The previous location on Great Newport Street lacked the excitement and coherence needed for larger shows, especially with the arts theatre separating the spaces. The new design allows for a dedicated education floor, enabling daytime events and master classes with photographers. A camera obscura is also integrated into the wall, offering visitors a unique way to reflect on photography and art. This transformation aims to attract more artists and provide a modern venue for exhibitions.
