In San Antonio's oldest Black funeral home, embalmer James Bryant mentors intern Clarence Pierre. Bryant hopes to pass on the tradition of embalming, a profession that has served the Black community for generations. Pierre struggles with his role, facing pressure from the community and his own identity as a queer, Christian man. The film documents their interactions and the decline of African American funeral homes.
