The Mysterious Case of the Windsor Hum (HBO)
Synopsis
Residents of Windsor, Ontario, report the very real Windsor Hum, believed to come from Zug Island.
Synopsis
In Windsor, Ontario, residents report a persistent low rumbling known as the Windsor Hum, which disrupts their sleep and rattles windows. Many believe it is very real, with some claiming it can even crack eggs. Mike Provost, who leads a Facebook group of 1,500 members dedicated to investigating the hum, lives in Olde Sandwich, where the sound is reportedly loudest. The group has amassed eight terabytes of audio recordings in their quest to identify the source. Provost suspects the hum originates from Zug Island, a site owned by U.S. Steel, located nearly five miles from Detroit. The island is shrouded in secrecy, guarded by private security and Homeland Security officials, making it difficult to investigate further. The documentary captures the frustration and mystery surrounding this phenomenon, as residents continue to seek answers about the sound that has become a part of their daily lives.
