Synopsis
On Satawal island, a traditional Micronesian navigator teaches an American navigator the ancient skills of navigation. The American attempts to steer a boat through perilous waters without the aid of Western technology, while the Micronesian navigator observes his progress. The film captures the tensions that arise within the Micronesian community and the dynamics between the two navigators during the process of learning and adaptation. "The Last Navigator" was released in 1989 and runs for 53 minutes.
