Barbara Zahm reflects on the 1971 Attica Prison Rebellion, which resulted in the deaths of forty-three men. She recounts the establishment of a college program for inmates that followed the uprising. Through interviews with prisoners, Zahm became involved in the "Movement for College Programs of New York State Prisons After Attica." Her work led to a personal transformation and deep concern over the Congressional decision to cut Pell Grants for prisoners, which ended the program and marked the "Last Graduation." As of 1997, funding had not been restored.
