Synopsis

Shuuluk, a surfer from San Diego, rides the waves along the coast where military technology and atomic testing have left their mark. The 27-minute documentary combines vérité footage and animation to show how these historical events affect contemporary surfing. Shuuluk engages with the impacts of occupation on his land and sport. He reclaims surfing as a source of joy and connection amidst the lingering effects of the past.
