Synopsis
On 8 August 1991, the Albanian ship 'Vlora' docks in Bari, Italy, carrying 20,000 people seeking refuge. As the vessel arrives, some passengers jump into the water, swimming to shore while others chant 'Italia, Italia.' Just a day earlier, the ship had been in Durrës, where an overwhelming crowd forced its captain to depart for Italy. The unexpected arrival stuns the city, which is unprepared for the influx. Over 20 years later, Italy hosts 4.5 million foreigners, many of whom made perilous attempts to reach its shores.
