Synopsis

Fakhir, a former soldier in the Iraqi army, disarms landmines in post-Saddam Hussein Iraq. With only a pocketknife and wire cutters, he clears thousands of roadside bombs, fully aware of the dangers. After losing a leg, he joins the Kurdish Peshmerga in 2014 to dismantle booby traps left by Daesh around Mosul. Fakhir documents his work through extensive home video footage, providing insight into the life of a deminer in a conflict-ridden environment.
